Acne Scar TreatmentTexture has a story.
Your plan should too.

Explore the difference between rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars, and why a considered plan often uses more than one approach.

THE CLEAR ANSWER

What does this
care involve?

Acne-scar treatment aims to make lasting changes in skin texture less noticeable. Indented scars differ from flat red or brown marks and from raised scars. At MICHIKO, assessment looks at scar type, depth, tethering, active acne and skin tone before discussing suitable treatment or referral.

01 / Rolling scars

01

Rolling scars

Broad, wave-like depressions may involve tissue tethering beneath the surface.

02

Boxcar and ice-pick scars

Sharply edged or narrow deep scars may need different methods from broad shallow scars.

Marks and active acne

Flat colour changes and new inflamed spots need their own plan.

MICHIKO · YOUR QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED

Acne Scar Treatment.
Beyond the treatment name.

01

Start by mapping the scars

It is common to have a mixture of scar types on the same face. The doctor examines depth, edges, distribution and whether the skin is tethered. They also distinguish pigmentation from true contour change. Ongoing acne should be controlled to reduce the risk of new scars while older scars are treated. A realistic goal is improvement; complete removal of every scar should not be promised.

02

When subcision may be considered

Subcision is a procedure intended to release selected fibrous attachments beneath tethered scars. It may be relevant to some rolling scars, but does not address every scar shape. Bruising, swelling, bleeding, infection and other complications are possible. The decision depends on anatomy, scarring pattern and medical history, and may form one stage of a wider plan.

03

Microneedling, resurfacing and combined care

MICHIKO’s service information includes Dermapen and skin-rejuvenation approaches. Microneedling creates controlled small injuries to support a repair response; the expected effect depends on scar type and protocol. Other resurfacing or focal techniques may be discussed where suitable. More aggressive treatment is not automatically better, particularly in skin prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation.

04

Understand adjuncts before adding them

PRP uses a preparation derived from your own blood and is sometimes discussed alongside other scar treatments. It is not synonymous with stem-cell therapy. Terms such as skin booster, placenta or stem cell do not identify a single standard treatment or prove benefit for acne scars. Ask for the exact product, evidence, permitted use and reason for including any add-on.

05

Recovery, timing and follow-up

Scar remodelling takes time. The number of visits and the interval depend on the method and response. Redness, swelling, bruising, peeling and temporary colour changes can affect work and travel plans. Tell the doctor about isotretinoin, other medicines, herpes, keloids and previous procedures. Follow method-specific aftercare and sun protection; do not perform invasive scar treatments at home.

MICHIKO · A CLOSER LOOK

Feel prepared.
Know what comes next.

01

Before your visit

Bring details of previous procedures, current medicines and supplements, allergies and any recent skin reaction. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mention work, travel and event dates so the plan can account for recovery and follow-up. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice.

02

After your treatment

Use gentle cleansing, the recommended moisturiser and consistent sun protection. Do not pick darkened areas or crusts. Ask when to resume active skincare and exercise. Unexpected blistering, worsening pain or signs of infection need clinical advice.

03

Review before repeating

Agree on a review point and the change you are hoping to see. Your response, side effects and priorities should guide the next step. Ask for a clear quote covering the proposed product or method, quantity where relevant, and follow-up.

BEFORE YOU VISIT

Your questions.
Space for clear answers.

Can acne scars be completely removed?

Complete removal should not be promised. Many plans aim to reduce how noticeable scars are, with the result varying by scar type and healing response.

Should active acne be treated first?

Usually it is important to control ongoing acne so that new scars are less likely to develop. Your doctor will advise the sequence.

Can I have treatment if I scar or pigment easily?

Tell the doctor before treatment. The method, intensity, preparation and follow-up may need to change, or a procedure may be unsuitable.

Where can I discuss this in Bangkok?

Message MICHIKO on LINE and mention the service. Choose EmSphere or Phahonyothin 21, and confirm the relevant clinician and appointment before travelling.

What should I bring to the consultation?

Bring details of previous procedures, current medicines and supplements, allergies and any recent skin reaction. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mention work, travel and event dates so the plan can account for recovery and follow-up. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice.
