Dermal support
Collagen contributes to skin structure. A change in firmness is not always a volume problem.
Dermal supportExplore how a collagen-stimulating injectable differs from immediate-volume filler, and how MICHIKO plans Sculptra around your skin and timeline.

Considered care.
Personal to you.
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable used to stimulate a gradual collagen response in appropriate patients. Changes develop over time rather than being judged from the swelling immediately after treatment. At MICHIKO in Bangkok, assessment considers skin quality, facial support, previous procedures and the follow-up needed for an individual plan.

Gradual responseMICHIKO · YOUR QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, a biodegradable material that supports a gradual tissue response associated with collagen production. The liquid used to prepare the product can create temporary fullness that settles; that early appearance is not the finished result. This is why a planned course and review photographs are more informative than comparing the face on the day of injection.
Collagen is part of the skin’s supporting framework. With ageing and environmental exposure, changes in that framework can contribute to fine lines, texture changes and reduced firmness. These concerns can coexist with fat-volume changes or excess skin. Sculptra is therefore one possible tool in a wider assessment, not a substitute for every type of filler or a surgical lift.
A consultation may consider Sculptra for selected changes in skin quality and facial support when gradual improvement fits your goals. Tell the doctor about previous fillers, surgery, medicines, allergies and any history of raised or keloid scars. Active infection or inflammation in the area can mean postponing treatment. The product is not suitable for everyone, and the proposed area must match the clinician’s assessment and applicable product information.
The dose and number of sessions should not be decided by age alone or by copying another person’s case. The doctor considers the area, tissue condition, previous treatment and response. Published product information describes results that may last up to two years in studied settings, but that is not a promise for every patient. Ask how the proposed plan will be reviewed before any additional vial or maintenance visit.
MICHIKO’s existing guide explains the commonly described 5–5–5 massage routine: five minutes, five times a day, for five days. Your treating doctor should confirm and demonstrate the aftercare appropriate to your treatment. Do not apply general massage advice to other injectables. Follow instructions on cleansing, makeup, exercise and sun exposure, and contact the clinic about unusual or worsening symptoms.
Temporary swelling, bruising and tenderness may occur. Lumps, nodules, inflammation, infection and rare serious injection complications are also possible. Sculptra cannot be simply dissolved in the same way as hyaluronic acid filler. Discuss what happens if a problem develops and how follow-up will work, especially if you live outside Bangkok. The cost should identify the product, planned quantity, sessions and review arrangements.

This 31-year-old client’s artwork records two vials and photographs dated 26 March and 20 August 2025. Together with the first case, it shows why MICHIKO discusses an individual plan rather than treating age as a formula. The amount and timing are specific to this client.

WHY MICHIKO
Sculptra needs planning over time. Dr. Gift and our medical team assess the starting concern, consider your previous procedures and review the response before deciding whether another session adds value. MICHIKO’s case photographs support that conversation with individual context.
Describe what has changed and what you hope to improve. The assessment comes before a programme recommendation.
LISTEN
Compare the approaches that fit your assessment. Understand what each can improve, where its limits lie and whether a simpler first step would suit you.
ASSESS
Discuss the exact method or product, expected benefit, limits, risks and total cost. There is time to decide and room to choose a simpler plan.
PLAN
Know your aftercare, review timing and how to contact the team. Your response helps shape the next step.
CARE
MICHIKO · A CLOSER LOOK
Bring details of previous procedures, current medicines and supplements, allergies and any recent skin reaction. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mention work, travel and event dates so the plan can account for recovery and follow-up. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice.
Follow the instructions for the exact product used. Temporary redness, swelling, bumps or bruising may occur. Avoid rubbing or massaging unless specifically advised. Contact the clinic for worsening pain, spreading redness, fever or persistent lumps; sudden vision symptoms or severe pain require urgent medical care.
Agree on a review point and the change you are hoping to see. Your response, side effects and priorities should guide the next step. Ask for a clear quote covering the proposed product or method, quantity where relevant, and follow-up.
BEFORE YOU VISIT
No. Sculptra is a PLLA collagen-stimulating injectable with a gradual response. HA fillers have different properties, uses and reversal options.
No. Early fullness and swelling can settle before the gradual tissue response becomes apparent. Review over time is part of the plan.
It is not reversed in the same straightforward way as HA filler. This makes careful selection and planning particularly important.
