The chin is considered alongside the lips, jawline and overall profile. A longer or sharper shape is not automatically a better fit. Bring your preferences and ask what filler can realistically change, and when another assessment is needed.
UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS
Chin filler uses hyaluronic acid gel to change the contour and apparent projection of the chin without surgery.
It may help selected concerns about length, width or symmetry.
It changes the soft-tissue outline; it does not move the jawbone or correct a dental bite problem.
The graphic explains chin proportion within the whole face. Projection, length and front-view balance are assessed together with the bite, facial structure and any previous implant or filler.
View original graphic at full sizeA short or recessed chin can change how the lower face appears in photographs.
Assessment includes the chin-to-cheek transition, lip position and side profile.
Facial thirds and proportion guides help explain the plan, but no single ratio defines the right chin for everyone.
Assessment considers short and narrow chins, asymmetry, a recessed profile and a central cleft.
These are starting points for an assessment, not diagnoses you need to make yourself.
Marked asymmetry, jaw structure or bite concerns may require dental or surgical advice.
A pebbled or dimpled chin may involve the mentalis muscle as well as facial structure.
Botulinum toxin acts on muscle activity; filler changes volume and contour.
They have different roles, and a doctor may consider either or both after checking your movement, lip function and bite.
Filler offers a temporary contour change and may need repeat treatment.
An implant or other surgery changes the structure differently and carries surgical risks and recovery.
Neither option is suitable for every chin.
Discuss the scale of change you want, your anatomy, previous treatment and long-term maintenance.
The amount depends on your existing chin and the change being considered.
An example using 1, 2 or 3 ml is not a prescription or a package for everyone.
Ask the doctor to explain the proposed volume in relation to the front view, profile and chin-to-cheek transition.
Bring the name of any injected material and details of surgery.
Lumps, a hanging contour or a previous implant need examination before further injections.
HA filler may sometimes be treated with hyaluronidase; other materials require a different plan.
Dissolving and surgery both carry risks.
The graphic labels facial muscles, including the mentalis around the chin. It helps explain why movement and muscle tension are assessed alongside chin shape. It is not a blood-vessel map or an injection guide.
View original graphic at full sizeThe chin contains blood vessels and nerves.
Alongside temporary swelling or bruising, possible problems include infection, asymmetry, lumps and rare vascular complications.
A clear treatment plan includes traceable products, an experienced medical practitioner and instructions for urgent concerns and follow-up.

YOUR CARE, AT A GLANCE
The clinic’s preparation and aftercare guidance, made easier to follow. Your treating doctor may adapt these instructions for you.
Tell the doctor about aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, blood thinners, fish oil, vitamin E and herbal supplements. The clinic’s guide asks patients to review these ahead of treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicine without your prescriber’s advice.
Bring details of regular medicines, allergies, illness, previous injections and implants. Tell the team if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or a history of cold sores.
The clinic advises avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before treatment. Arrive with a clean face and allow time to discuss your questions, product choice, cost and follow-up.
The Thai preparation graphic covers medical and allergy history, medicines and supplements that may affect bruising, and avoiding alcohol before the visit. Bring a complete medicine list. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own: any change should be agreed with the prescribing clinician and treating doctor.
View original graphic at full sizeSwelling and bruising can occur. Use a gently applied, cloth-wrapped cool compress as advised by your clinician. Do not apply ice directly or press hard. Contact the clinic if swelling, redness or pain is increasing.
Avoid impact and strong pressure on the area. Follow the doctor’s advice about facial movement and exercise. For chin filler, avoid resting your chin on your hand or sleeping face-down for at least two weeks.
The clinic advises pausing facial massage, scrubs and facial treatments for at least two weeks. Check with the treating doctor before scheduling another procedure.
Discuss the timing of facial lasers, steam rooms, saunas and hot baths before treatment. A 2–4 week interval may be advised for some activities; your clinician should specify which restrictions apply to your product and planned procedures.
The clinic’s guide advises avoiding alcohol for two weeks, or at least 48 hours. It also lists raw and fermented foods as clinic-specific restrictions. Follow your personalised instructions. Severe unusual pain, vision changes or pale/dusky skin require immediate medical attention.
The original graphic discusses early swelling or bruising, cold compresses, pressure on the treated area, heat and strenuous activity, sleep position and dental-treatment timing. These are general clinic instructions. Follow the advice for your own procedure and contact the clinic if symptoms are severe, unusual or worsening.

START WITH WHAT YOU NOTICE
Choose the concern closest to yours. These are starting points for a consultation, not a diagnosis.

Discuss how your chin relates to your lips and the rest of your profile. Ask which changes filler can offer and which fall outside its role.
Understand your options
Consider chin width, length and the transition into the jawline. The aim is agreed with you rather than taken from one ideal face shape.
Understand your options
Tell your doctor about previous filler, implants, surgery or concerns about your bite. Additional filler may not be the right next step.

Choose a topic, or keep reading.
The right role for each approach.
Filler adds selected volume; botulinum toxin may address a relevant muscle concern; an implant is a surgical change. They do not solve the same problem. The consultation should assess the chin in front and profile views, along with bite, jaw proportions and any asymmetry.
If you have had filler and are considering an implant, tell the surgeon the product, date and area. Whether material needs assessment, dissolving or another step is a clinical decision; it should not be assumed that every previous filler requires scraping or that no preparation is needed.
HA filler adds selected volume without an implant operation, but has limits when the concern involves a marked skeletal imbalance or bite. A chin implant or other surgery has different planning, recovery and risks. Neither choice is decided from a side-profile photograph alone.
If you may want surgery later, tell both clinicians about the filler product, amount, dates and any complications. Whether existing material needs dissolving, observation or another approach is a surgical assessment; it is not correct to assume everyone needs filler scraped out.
Know what comes before and after.

View original graphic at full sizeBring previous treatment dates, products and photographs if available. Tell the doctor about medicines, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any infection or irritation near the area. Ask about the intended product, alternatives, cost and follow-up before consenting.
Some medicines and supplements can affect bruising or bleeding. Do not stop prescribed medicines yourself; any change should be agreed with the prescribing clinician. Ask the clinic about alcohol, exercise and other preparations relevant to your appointment.
Follow your treating doctor’s instructions for skin care, activity, pressure on the area and the timing of other procedures. Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising can happen. Avoid firm massage unless the clinician specifically advises it, and ask how and when to use a cool compress.
Contact the clinic for increasing swelling, persistent pain, redness, warmth or a new lump. Severe unusual pain, pale or dusky skin, or vision changes need immediate medical attention. Keep the urgent contact details and attend the agreed follow-up; an early swollen photograph is not the final result.

WHY MICHIKO
Dr. Gift and the MICHIKO medical team consider your chin from the front and in profile, including its relationship to the lips, jawline and cheeks. Previous filler, implants and muscle movement all inform the plan.
Bring your story. Ask how the proposed plan relates to your own starting point.
Discuss alternatives, limits and follow-up with the medical team.
BEFORE YOU VISIT
Chin filler changes soft-tissue contour; it does not correct dental alignment or replace jaw surgery. Discuss bite or structural concerns so the doctor can guide the next assessment.
No. The product and amount should follow an individual assessment. Ask for the proposed amount, total price and whether a staged approach is suitable.
A 6–24 month range may be discussed depending on the product. Your result and the persistence of the material vary. Review the chin before more filler is added, particularly if you notice fullness, a lump or a change in shape.
Changing chin projection may change how the chin-to-neck profile appears, but filler does not remove fat. Skin laxity, fat, jaw structure and posture require separate assessment. Ask which part of your concern the proposed treatment can address.
The plan follows your assessment. Ask for the product, proposed amount, total cost and any follow-up charges before agreeing to treatment.
Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur. Ask your doctor about recovery for your particular plan and leave flexibility around important events.
Bring your questions, medical and allergy history, medicines and supplements, and details of previous procedures. Do not change prescribed medicines without advice from your prescribing clinician.
Tell the surgeon exactly what was injected and when. The clinician will decide whether to wait, investigate or treat remaining material before surgery. HA filler and permanent or unknown substances require different management; do not assume everything can be dissolved.
No. They show individual experiences. Starting anatomy, treatment history and the agreed plan differ from person to person.
