THE MICHIKO APPROACHConsidered care.
Personal to you.
The clear answer

What does this
treatment do?

Hyaluronic acid filler can soften selected folds between the nose and mouth. At MICHIKO in Bangkok, assessment considers the fold, cheek support and previous treatment together before deciding whether and where additional volume may help.

ILLUSTRATIVE AREAS · PERSONAL ASSESSMENT COMES FIRST

01 / MOUTH CORNER & CHINSCROLL TO EXPLORE
01

Why do nasolabial folds become more noticeable?

Facial anatomy, changes in support and volume, skin and expression can all influence the fold. A line seen when smiling is not assessed in the same way as a persistent fold at rest. Your doctor considers both.

THE CONCERN
02

Should filler always go directly into the fold?

Not necessarily. The visible line and the support around it may need different consideration. Ask the doctor why a placement is proposed, how previous filler affects the plan and which changes are realistic for your anatomy.

THE CONNECTION
03

What if my cheeks looked fuller after previous filler?

Bring product names, dates and photographs if available. Additional volume is not automatically the next step. Your doctor should assess existing material, swelling and facial support before discussing further treatment or correction.

Nasolabial Folds Filler

Understand the treatment

The concern. The cause. The possibilities.

Nasolabial Folds Filler · the area in context

Can nasolabial folds disappear completely?

Natural facial folds remain part of expression. Discuss how much softening may be appropriate instead of assuming every crease can or should be erased. An individual result cannot be guaranteed from a reference photo.

Who may benefit, and when should treatment wait?

Filler may suit a concern involving a loss of volume or support. It may be less helpful when excess skin or another cause dominates. Tell the doctor about previous filler, surgery, medicines, allergies and any active skin problem. Suitability is decided at consultation.

What makes a filler suitable for a fold?

The line you see may reflect cheek support, a local volume change or normal movement. A firmer gel proposed for support and a more flexible gel proposed for a moving area have different jobs. Product choice should follow the assessment of depth, skin thickness and existing filler.

A fuller cheek can make a remaining fold look more obvious. If that happened after earlier treatment, review the existing material before considering more volume. No needle technique can guarantee that filler will never move or cause a complication.

Filler, Botox or threads: which concern are we treating?

A nasolabial fold is not simply a wrinkle caused by one muscle. It can reflect cheek support, tissue descent and local volume. Filler can address selected volume and support needs; botulinum toxin changes muscle activity and is not a routine substitute for filling a fold. Threads may reposition suitable tissue but bring different risks and recovery. A consultation should separate these causes before comparing treatments.

If a fold appears deeper after filler, adding more is not automatically the answer. Excess fullness beside the fold, swelling or the position of earlier filler may change the contrast. Persistent lumps or an unfamiliar contour need examination; avoid firm massage unless your treating doctor specifically advises it.

Gel properties and volume belong in the same plan.

For structural support, product discussions may include Restylane Lyft or Defyne, Belotero Intense, Yvoire Contour, and Flore Max or Max 1400. Softer-tissue planning may involve models such as Restylane Volyme, Belotero Volume or Balance, Yvoire Volume Plus or Classic Plus, and Flore Max or N. These names are starting points for a product discussion, not a recommendation that every model suits every fold.

The doctor should explain the proposed model, intended role, current Thai registration and amount. There is no universal number of syringes: depth, previous filler and the surrounding face matter more than choosing a package by volume.

How should I prepare for nasolabial folds filler?

Bring previous treatment dates, products and photographs if available. Tell the doctor about medicines, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any infection or irritation near the area. Ask about the intended product, alternatives, cost and follow-up before consenting.

Some medicines and supplements can affect bruising or bleeding. Do not stop prescribed medicines yourself; any change should be agreed with the prescribing clinician. Ask the clinic about alcohol, exercise and other preparations relevant to your appointment.

What should I do after filler?

Follow your treating doctor’s instructions for skin care, activity, pressure on the area and the timing of other procedures. Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising can happen. Avoid firm massage unless the clinician specifically advises it, and ask how and when to use a cool compress.

Contact the clinic for increasing swelling, persistent pain, redness, warmth or a new lump. Severe unusual pain, pale or dusky skin, or vision changes need immediate medical attention. Keep the urgent contact details and attend the agreed follow-up; an early swollen photograph is not the final result.

What happens during the appointment?

Begin with your concerns and treatment history. Your doctor assesses the relevant area, explains suitable options and agrees the plan, price and follow-up with you. Ask which product or device will be used, why it was selected and what the plan includes before giving consent.

What should I know about recovery and risks?

Swelling, bruising and tenderness can occur after filler. Rare blood-vessel complications can be serious. Vision changes, severe unusual pain or pale or dusky skin after injection require immediate medical attention. Ask for written aftercare and an urgent contact number.

When should the result be reviewed?

An early photograph can be affected by swelling. Agree a review time with the treating doctor and assess facial balance after the initial reaction has settled. Longevity varies with the product, area, anatomy and treatment history.
